It’s Never Too Late To Go Back To School

09 Sep It’s Never Too Late To Go Back To School

It’s important for everyone to understand that it’s never to late for a person who wants to better his or her situation in life to do so. For some reason, it’s often thought that when a person becomes an adult, it’s no longer possible to pursue the education that had been available to them in their youth. But that isn’t the truth, and the Billings Adult Education Program is helping adults achieve scholastic credentials that they had passed-on in their youth. And they understand that the reasons vary widely as to why someone may or may not have met High School standards. It doesn’t matter why you didn’t do it the first time, but that you’re there doing it now.

The Billings Adult Education Program offers classes to help prepare anyone who wants to take and pass a High School Equivalency Test, a test called the HiTest, which was formerly called the GED. These classes are free to everyone and are self-paced. So, for those of you who have families, work, etc., you can fit the course into your own schedule. Passing the High School Equivalency Test for someone who hasn’t met these same standards opens new doors. It could prepare you for advancement in your current job, or even make you eligible to attend college. Remember, these programs are here for you to make your situation better, it’s never too late.

If you are someone with college aspirations, there is counseling available at the Education Opportunity Centers, which are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Counselors here can show the options for both two and four-year degree programs. College admissions standards can seem confusing at first, and to have someone who knows the process walk you through the process makes it much easier. Also, there is counseling on Financial Aid. Applying for financial aid can be daunting, especially for the first time.

If continuing your education is something that you’ve always wanted for yourself, maybe now is the time. And, if you are worried about feeling like the old person in the room, you’re not alone. Adults of all ages use the services of the Adult Education Program.
